How to Eliminate Your Credit Card Debt Quickly and Simply
Credit card debt is an unpleasant evil of our society, worst of all it could affect anyone of us at anytime. Once you get into credit card debt it is hard to see the end and the situation seems hopeless, luckily this is not the case. If you are prepared and determined to eliminate your credit card debt, it is extremely possible to do and to do it quickly as well.
Make a List
You must be ready to get organized in order to eliminate your credit card debt, part of this means keeping a list. List down all the credit cards you have (hopefully you don't have too many!) and in that list you should have the minimum payment according to your latest statement, the minimum payment percentage of each card and the balance you must pay off.
Your aim is now to pay off the balance on the card with the highest interest rate; accordingly you should arrange the credit cards from the highest to the lowest rate. Once you've done that you can add up all the minimum payments, you must pay this amount monthly as well as an additional amount to the card with the highest rate.
Getting a Budget
You may find that with all the debt you have to pay off you can't afford to pay anything more than the amount of minimum payments. This is probably before you've made any lifestyle adjustments. If you are really serious about trying to eliminate your credit card debt you must start tweaking the way you live here and there.
Unnecessary expenses are the first thing to go, things that you might think of as a necessity but are really just comforts like haircuts, movies and eating out. All these things are unnecessary expenses that you have to do without to free up the cash for the money you owe.
Getting a Compromise
You cannot eliminate your credit card debt without working with your credit card company so call and ask if you can get a lower interest rate. This is actually easier than it sounds and you will find that most companies are willing to help you out in this respect.
However, in case they won't offer you a lower interest rate you should get a new credit card.
Although this sounds like a bad idea since credit cards are what got you into this mess, this is a good way to work towards zero credit card debt. A new credit card will have a low introductory rate for a certain period of time; before you make this jump make sure you can pay off the debt during this period otherwise forget it. Hopefully, you will be able to eliminate your credit card debt with these simple steps in a relatively short period of time.
